Dear Mom and Dad,
These days I’m often grumpy from being tired or sick from the latest bug thats brewing at daycare. But when I’m on my A game, I can be found destroying your house. I’m really good a that, mom and dad, especially if I can find crayons, or an unattended bottle of baby oil. Jackpot!
Also, whoever invented those “child-locks” on the cabinets was a dummy. Now I can carry around the window cleaner and the Raid with my blankly. I’ve added these essentials to my toy pile. I’m sure they will come in handy one day.
Would you please stop removing them from my stash?
Currently, I’m learning to brush my teeth, and most nights find it pretty amusing. That toothpaste is tasty and sometimes I demand seconds. My english isn’t great, but my communication skills are. I’m a peek-a-boo pro and pretty good at navigating the iPhone too.
Sometimes I even answer it for you when you didn’t know anyone was calling, you’re welcome, mom!
But mom and dad, what I really want to say in this letter is, thank you.
Thank you for putting up with me when I’m grumpy, sick and miserable. And for attempting to keep the house from looking like a totter-run frat house. I promise to repay you for any damage I cause when I’m a rich doctor one day.
Thank you for being so funny and making me laugh. And thank you for letting me drink your Starbucks when you set it down and don’t pay attention. Yum. Guess what, mom? I’m the only 18 month I know who is sophisticated enough to love coffee and LaCroix. The kids in my daycare class just drink apple juice. What babies!
Thank you for checking on me while I sleep and covering me back up with my blanket. And coming to get me at night when I wake up and cry. I know you have nothing better to do at 2 AM, mom.
Thank you for making me lots of pb and j sandwiches and pretty much letting me eat whatever I want. Except the other day, when you wouldn’t let me have Bluebell ice cream for breakfast, that sucked, mom.
Mostly, mom and dad, thank you for all the hugs, cuddles and love. I’m only 18 months old, so I still need them a lot. I won’t always be this little you know? I’m growing up everyday.
Love, Ray.
