Ducros Plantation:
The Ducros Plantation Easter Party was definitely the highlight of our weekend. Its a private party , but lucky for us, one of the owners, has never met a stranger and ever so kindly invited our whole family out.
Ducros house is a breathtaking home, but what I loved most is the story behind how the current owners came to renovate it. They had never sought out to own a home like this, but watching it sit in ruins over years motivated them to buy it.
And wow, they done a tremendous job in their research and renovations. This entry way is a total swoon.
I mean look at this porch y’all. How I would love for my job to be drinking coffee and reading books on this porch.
Currently the owners live in the home and host private events, weddings and the yep, the annual Easter party.
The Picnic
Its a bring your own picnic basket, bring your own wine event, but they supply face painting, cupcake decorating, bubbles, lots of games and of course an easter egg hunt.
Ray partook in all these and actually understood the concept of putting eggs in his basket. Never mind that he quit after about 6 eggs, I’ll take it. I didn’t even try to encourage him to get more, its kinda a strange concept this who egg hunt thing.
Bunny Trust Issues
He especially approved of the cupcakes and the bubbles, however, the Easter bunny was not a welcomed friend. We practiced with the a pretend bunny inside…and even that he didn’t feel he could trust. Clearly.
But the actual Easter bunny…oh dear. I needed wine afterwards. It was a Mardi Gras level melt down (read it here).
Ray is in a new phase of being almost impossible to get to bed and night and after what was a glorious stretch of sleeping through the night, he’s back to night time shin digs as well. I’m certain this is driving up Starbucks profits as I’ve become so desperate as to resort to two-a-days. Of coffee.
2 years is coming!
However, with his 2nd birthday only two weeks away, I am fully aware that this too shall pass. Now excuse me while I ugly cry. I am so not ready for him to be two. I know they say time goes fast, but does it have to go this fast?
Next week I’ll be sharing more about this turning two thing. Its a good one so come back…until then cheers!
