Squash that is. I’m lovin these farmers market summer squash.
Look at that funky squash. How great is he? (or maybe she)
I also got this huge bunch of basil
This was no less than one tenth of the basil bunch I bought. It made my whole car smell like the best Italian food restaurant ever. I didn’t want to get out.
What to do with squash and basil?
Make pesto for starters.
For dinner we had squash and pesto pasta one night and pesto pizza with squash and Havarti cheese on top the next. Nom, nom. There is a million things one can make with pesto. Its magical.
I’d never eaten a funky squash before. It tasted like a zucchini, but had the texture of a butternut squash. I thought it was pretty terrific. If you know the name of it, please feel free to enlighten me, other wise it shall be called “funky squash.”
I’m also lovin these DIY address announcement cards.
I made them using the Cricut mini (using sweetheart cartridge) and a new app on the Mac called Logoist (I used the fabric template for the “ROSES” letters).
These cars and fleur de lis are cut out of the sweet heart template on the Cricut. I thought they were fitting since we just moved to Louisiana. I just glued them to the address announcement made on the Logoist. Simple.
Last night I was loving our spin class at the YMCA which was summer music themed. She even played the song that says, “I like girls that wear Ambercrombie and Fitch, I’ll take her if I had one wish…” by LFO. Despite the fact that “fitch” and “wish” are NOT rhyming words, and that I personally do not like Ambercrombie and Fitch, I’ve always been a sucker for that song. It had been along time since I’d jammed to that one. Probably about as long as I had been to a spin class. And my booty was kicked. I was huffing and puffing and praying. And there was sweat. Everywhere. I think I’ll leave it at that.
What are you loving about summer?
