After my horrible daycare woes last week, I think its only fitting to dive into something fun and exciting, like: Nursery Theme Reveal!
I’ve mentioned before that the boy and I both enjoy decorating, so its no suprise that we were excited to begin project nursery. However, picking a theme was no easy feat. There are SO many cute Pinterest nursery ideas, its easy to get overwhelmed. We had many discussions. I’ve always loved giraffes, so they were in the running. The boy has always loved legos, so they were also in the running. And then there’s dinosaurs. Everyone loves dinosaurs. But, ultimately, we decided on something completely unique.
Thanks to some certain neighbor friends, we are currently obsessed with the board game Settlers of Catan. If you’re not familiar with this game, its kind-of a mix between Organ Trail and Monopoly. Except I hate Monopoly, so more like organ trail. All the same, we thought it would make for a super fun nursery theme. And it represents something we both enjoy 🙂
We even brought Catan out on the boat with us this summer.
If you’re not familiar with the game, the main resources you need to win are wheat, rock, brick, sheep and wood. We decided to highlight these elements throughout the room. Its far from done, but I envision the finished nursery similar to a nature theme but with a fun Catan twist.
Thus far, we’ve completed a lot of furniture shuffling and painted our beloved orange wall light green. Fair well, craft room!
Its only the beginning, so I can’t show pictures yet 🙂
We are still deciding on details, but have our eye on this rug from Land of Nod:
I think it makes for a good “wheat” look-a-like.
Also, Land of Nod is a trap.
And we like these hexagon shelves from Land of Nod (I told you its a trap).
Its a small detail, but the game pieces are made of hex tiles, so we thought the hex shelves would be a nice touch.
I am loving this mobile from BubblyMoon on Etsy:
It makes for good “rock” and “wood” representation.
Those are the Nursery theme thoughts for now.
In case you’re wondering, Baby Rose is still without daycare. I do have a tour planned with a local daycare that still has openings for next August (who hoo!). The lady wouldn’t let commit without coming in for the tour. Trust me, I tried.
However, I did get at least one responsible mom-to-be thing done this week. I joined Amazon Prime! I just can’t do Target and Walmart anymore. From the crazy parking lot, to the person who inevitably has 50 items in the 10 or less line, it does not bring out the WWJD in me. So Prime, here I come! Mom life is all about the small wins anyway, right?
