All good blogs should start with food. Probably chocolate or peanut butter or coconut or some great combination of all listed. And I was going to make something of the sort when I realized that my kitchen table was unavailable due to…
MAIL!!! Does this happen at your house? Because I’m pretty sure this is a daily event here. And the sad thing is at least 87% of that mail is junk/ wasted trees/super annoying. Its 2014. Is all the paper necessary? So I thought of a solution. I saw these pretty cute shutter mail sorters at Hobby Lobby the other day and remembered that I once saved a shutter’s life. It was suffocating under a pile of dust at an antique store, so $15.00 dollars later I brought it home. Ok. So it was ugly. But after some tons of sanding, tons of spray paint and some mod podge paper butterflies it looked super. Much better right?
To transform the shutter into a mail sorter, I bought a cork board poster for $6.99 and got crunk with the hot glue gun. I just hot glued the cork to the back of the shutter. SO EASY.
My shutter was tight enough against the cork board that I did not have to individually seal each shutter opener, but if you needed to a hot glue gun will do the trick. And then lets turn the shutter back over to the cute side…and put some of that dang mail in there…
I really do love the declutter shutter. We found a home for it next to the laundry room. Its quite functional and as an OT (occupational therapist), I’m all about function. And now check out my table: Ok. So I may have already started another craft project (as the hobby lobby bag implies). But look – NO MAIL 🙂
