Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Ah, I can’t believe 2016 has come and gone.
Hubby and I decided to have a low key Christmas this year and traveled to my parents house in Texas. It’s a good ten hour road trip from where we are in Louisiana, but well worth it to spend time with each other and family.
Next Christmas baby Rose will be almost 8 months old! I cannot even imagine.
With it just being the two of us, we don’t currently do too much for Christmas, but it’ll be fun to incorporate baby Rose into current Christmas traditions and see what new things we add.
Here’s a little snippet of our 2016 Christmas…
As with each Christmas, the boy got to go pick out a lego set from the lego store in Houston. I love that he’s still a kid at heart and enjoys spending hours putting together insane lego sets.
You must have to have a very certain personality type to love legos on this level. I would certainly throw them all in the fire place before I came close to finishing.
But the boy – he did it. He even ended with a smile on his face!
We also hit up Santa Town (also know as Santa’s Wonderland) which is a Christmas theme park that never looses its magic. It has fire pits where you can roast s’mores, a hay ride through a giant lights display, Santa and Rudolph, pretend snow every 30 minutes (because Texas almost never gets real snow!), big “sledding” slides, food, hot chocolate, wine tasting, fudge, Elf showing on a big outdoor screen…need I continue? We go every year and you can bet baby Rose will be in attendance next year.
S’mores from a fire pit are the BEST.
We also enjoyed ourselves by sleeping in. So simple and so underrated.
I baked a lot and even made fresh squeezed orange juice from oranges that my granny grew. What else are you supposed to do when you’re not at work?
My mom did what she does best and made the most beautiful coconut and chocolate pies.
Never mind that one of the pies accidentally got left in the refrigerator when we traveled to my grannies for Christmas celebration with all the family. More pie for just us, I guess!
Isn’t mom Cindy cute? I hope I’m as cute and talented as she is one day.
This week was back to work for me and the boy and probably lots of you as well. I always dread going back to work, but then as I get back in the swing, I’m reminded how much I really enjoy my job. I feel like I’m staring 2017 off with a grateful disposition. From friends, to family to baby Rose and even work, I am blessed.
I will just leave you with this picture of our craft room, because its soon to be transforming 🙂
This weekend is the beginning of project nursery!
As sad as I am to say goodbye to the craft room, I am just as happy to say hello to a nursery room! And I cannot wait to blog about the decor. But for now the theme, color, ect. will remain a surprise! Hope you have a great weekend.
