I’m on Alaska time.
Which means its only 9 PM right now. The problem is…I’m now home, in Louisiana where its approximately midnight. Arg.
Too bad jet lag cannot be overcome with common logic.
Because I’d be asleep right now. Dreaming of a whip cream pool or something great. But instead I’m sitting here next to Bourbon who is demanding cuddles. Poor pup. And while I’m up, I figured I’d make some photo edits.
Which I figured I’d share because…well, Alaska is pretty amazing.
Its hard not to love Alaska. Even the weeds are pretty.
The Alaska sky is pretty beautiful too. Can you say breathtaking?
In winter in the interior of Alaska…the sea plane is their car. There is THAT much snow, yep, the roads are pretty much totally under. And this little baby will deliver your groceries when its 40 below. (side note – you will only find me visiting Alaska in July or June)
They used to wear parkas like this one to stay warm.
And while I can’t deal with 40 below, I think the parka is pretty fashion forward coming from the natives. Props guys, I’m diggin it.
My favorite part of the trip was all the wonderful family we got to visit with: Cj’s parents, his sister and her fiancé as well as my folks. They’re pretty cute, huh?
We also took a helicopter ride over the glacier. The guides warned us not to fall in the huge water holes. Well. thanks.
Of course the best part of any vacation is that even when the trip is over your reflections on it and great memories last.
Hope you all have made great summer memories with the ones you love.
And if you’re considering a trip to Alaska…I’ll leave you with my Dad’s words of wisdom, “expensive trip, but well worth it.”
Goodnight now, I’ve got a whip cream pool to dream up.
