Y’all…I never knew adding a flower bed to the yard could make such a difference in a space. Our backyard went from being an annoying area we have to mow, to a place I actually enjoy.
Now that we FINALLY know we are staying in Louisiana for a bit, we’ve started taking all the house projects that have been on hold. And although, I really don’t care for strenuous physical labor, in a strange way its quite refreshing.
First on the list, and one of the simplest, was a little flower bed that we added to an ugly un-cleared patch in our back yard. Our builder had promised us a flower bed in this spot after we moved in, but alas, that never happened. And since the builder is kinda ridiculous to deal with (he STILL thinks my name is Rose), we never bugged him about it. (We just tear up all the referral requests he keeps sending us in the mail.)
We decided to add the small flower bed on our own.
It just took about 5 trips to Lowes to get all the stones, 10 bags of top soil, 6 bags of mulch and 8 partial sun light plants. Turns our, stones and dirt are really heavy and the boy said my car wouldn’t drive so great if we loaded everything at once.
Simple, but so worth the effort.
I’m not much of a green thumb, and I really hate earth worms, but there’s something wonderful about putting my hands in the dirt and planting flowers. It helps me remember God is the creator of everything…worms, stars, dirt, you and me. I find that really reassuring. We are in His hands and His care.
