This past weekend the boy and I road tripped it to Texas for our fiesta baby shower. We’re over the long drive, but it was so worth it. Many thanks to my talented friends Brooke and Rebecca for throwing this fantastic shower.
Also, thank you to my sweet parents for hosting. Especially mom Cindy, who made out-of-this-world tacos (pork, chicken and beef!)
We did some onesie tie dying – which is why my sweet dad is rocking a trash bag in this picture. Its not his normal get-up, in case you’re curious.
Even though, I can’t personally take credit for most of these great fiesta baby shower ideas, I can share the brilliance with you.
Since I’m rooting for a Cinco De Mayo due date, Brooke thought a fiesta theme would be fitting. She was right. And, there are SO many fun things one can do with this.
-
Fiesta baby shower favors.
Check out these cute little cacti and succulent favors. Rebecca wrote my due date on the pots and they doubled as table decor.
-
Fiesta sugar cookies.
These tasted as great as they look. Rebecca’s labor and delivery nurse co-worker made them. Wow, this girl can birth babies and make these. I’m impressed.
-
Speaking of tasting great…
how ’bout these churros con chocolate from Trader Joes?
-
Sombreros as a centerpiece.
Who says center pieces have to be fancy?
-
Dressing up fiesta style.
Brooke and her girl in their matching fiesta outfits were priceless. I sure hope me and baby Rose are this cute one day.
-
Jarritos
Basically the best drink ever. We Texans get them from the HEB. I’m not sure where to get ’em outside of Texas, but any fun Mexican theme drink would work here.
-
On that note, homemade horchata!
Not pictured, but I used this recipe and it turned out pretty great. Incase you haven’t tried it yet, horchata is a creamy cinnamon spiced rice milk. It’s also one of my favorite snow cone flavors.
-
A picado paper banner!
Loved the “Bienvenidos Baby Rose” banner.
-
Tie dying onesies.
Totally not “fiesta” specific, but great all the same. Tie dying onesies with everyone was lots of fun. Plus, some people used this as their way to “vote” on what gender Baby Rose will be. Mom Cindy used only pink on hers 🙂
10. Fiesta hostess gifts.
The only idea here I can take credit for! I found these catus coffee mugs (which read, “can’t touch this”) and piñata socks at Chamin Charlies of all places. Of course, this gift doesn’t capture how grateful I am to my sweet friends for throwing this baby shower, no gift could do that.
There have been some sad family dynamics which occurred as a result of my pregnancy, so experiencing such love from so many people is more refreshing than I can explain. Especially here on a internet blog. So in summary, I will just say thank you to all the friends and family who came, and if even if you didn’t come, but have loved and supported me, the boy, and Baby Rose along this journey.
We are humbled.
[…] few pictures from all the baby love that has been showered upon us. I already wrote about the Texas Fiesta shower, but later that week I had a work shower where my very sneaky co-workers and patients surprised me […]
